ABSTRACT

The study is aimed at looking into the various roles of television as an effective tool for national integration. using Nigeria Television Authority In Kaduna Sate as   as case study. The study adopted a survey research design and with the aid of convenient sampling method, the researcher enrolled 36 participants in the study who are presenter and journalist in  NTA district in Kaduna State. Self constructed questionnaire was issued to the respondent.  A total of 30 responses were received and validated from the enrolled participants. Data was analyzed in frequencies and tables using simple percentage, mean and standard deviation. Hypothesis test was conducted using Chi-Square Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The analysis of this research reveals that television is the most effective means for national integration, because it plays a prominent role of informing, educating and enlightening people with different religion, ethnic and cultural diversities. The study therefore recommends that  there should be more innovations and creatively in television programme production to aid efficiency. Additionally, more space and time should be allocated to national integration related programmes, which will in turn lead to achievement of objectives.
